As someone who is from Australia this place is awesome, loved trying all the different foods and I love the biscuits. Staff were fantastic at the buffet line and at our table. We were served by a younger lady who was fantastic and gave us the recommendation of having peach cobbler for dessert, absolutely stunning. She was very friendly and helpful as well. Our other server he was also fantastic, being very attentive and asking if we needed more drinks. Great bloke. Wish we got both their names so we could’ve given them the shout they deserve for their amazing service. (They served us in the outside area.) Fried chicken was crispy and juicy and all the sides you could get were all cooked really nicely with a perfect flavour. Overall I give this a 10/10, I will be returning at least once before I leave the country. September 1st 2026

We were visiting from England and were treated to the best experience whilst stopping in for a bite. The food was so delicious. The fried chicken bites, wedges, apple cider, and pork sliders were all amazing! The prices were very good as well. The tavern is beautifully decorated. We had the best time playing the games provided and soaking up the ambiance. We met a man from Reading (the proprietor) and he was so welcoming too. By far the best tavern experience I have had. I will forever remember it, thank you.

My husband and I visited Michie Tavern after visiting Monticello. It was a great added experience to the very colonial themed day! The atmosphere was perfectly fitting for the late 1700s. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was so delicious! And the shops were so quaint and nice! We do plan on returning to Michie Tavern when we're in the area again!

Visit 05-14-2026 - Thursday. F.C. Jackson was our server a great orator of American history! Jackson's book 📖 😍 ❤️ might be in the gift shop by July 2026! We ordered BBQ Sliders with Slaw, Country Ham (probably Virginia Ham)Biscuits, Mac and Cheese 16 Oz. 🥣 Bowl, Fried Okra, Hushpuppies, 5 oz. Thistlerock, Devils Backbone Vienna Lager. First experience to try the oldest alcohol beverage called Mead or Meade! It was all to die for!! Jackson said they get elementary school tours from California much frequently than other states. While dining 100 plus elementary students on a school tour from Texas came thru for their scheduled reservation! We heard one of the male students say, "Yes, Your Majesty!" That particular male student 12 or 13 years old made our night! It felt like we walked right into 1784! What an experience! Thanx, Michie 🍺 Tavern!!

My family went there last year, Christmas season and I have to tell you, this place is magical. You can enjoy not only amazing southern food but also very unique vintage atmosphere. You would feel like you are part of this history and I would happy to re-visit again next time when I visit Charlottesville. You might have to wait to be seated since this place is very famous but it’s definitely worth it. Highly recommended!
